Entertainment Weekly:

Along with the Arnold Cave, the Governator will have a fleet of super vehicles at his disposal, a closet full of "Super Suits" that allow him to fly and perform other super stunts, and a team of colorful sidekicks, such as Zeke Muckerberg, the precocious 13-year-old computer whiz who acts as the Governator's cybersecurity expert. Naturally, there will also be recurring supervillains -- including an evil organization called Gangsters Imposters Racketeers Liars & Irredeemable Ex-cons (or G.I.R.L.I.E. Men, for short).

As a responsible audience member, I make it my policy to always watch the end credits of everything I watch. Lately, I've been noticing a weird trend:

I finally got around to watching the first season of 30 Rock!!!

• I can't stand pilot episodes! I watch them and I think "ugh" and then I usually don't watch the show until a season or two later, and then I kick myself for not sticking with it. The Office pilot felt like a mediocre copy of the original (using the same script didn't help) , the Parks & Recreation pilot felt like a mediocre Office copy, and the 30 Rock pilot just felt too cutesy to me when I originally saw it. It's not bad, now that I can appreciate it in hindsight of what the show later became, but it still feels weird.
• Ughh why is Rachel Dratch playing every single non-recurring female character
• I noticed they were more into percussion-heavy establishing music this season
• It's hard to say when it evolves from embryonic 30 Rock into 30 Rock. The fifth episode, maybe?
• Former 30 Rock writer / current Community star Donald Glover appears briefly in that episode
• I like the dropped "paging [actor] to the stage for [name of a terrible-sounding skit]" running gag even though it definitely feels like the writers were thinking "oh no, there's a 3-second stretch of no dialogue, better throw in an extra joke"

Tough times for insurance mascots. GEICO announcer fired for anti-Tea Party remarks, voice of Aflac duck canned for tasteless tweets. All eyes are on Flo the Progressive girl, watching her every move... when will she slip up? Hard to say. But it will happen.

Whenever I think about Wes Anderson or that flat, carefully-framed shot that's become commonplace for him and his contemporaries, I always think about this shot from one of the Pete & Pete shorts:

MTV-style editing has long been a vocabulary term in film textbooks, perhaps it's time Nickelodeon-style framing got its due

• bomer - I guess webcomic genius K.C. Green and some friends were having fun doodling Homer Simpson at some comics convention and now they've started a Tumblr for them. This one is my fave so far.


• scri.ch - This is a neat super-minimalist drawing tool that lets you make doodles and gives you a short url to share them. Here's a doodle of Harry Potter I made. There's no eraser tool which kinda gives me the willies.


• You are listening to Los Angeles. - Ambient music over LAPD police scanners. Super-cool for background music while you're internetting it up


• The Comics Journal - I loved reading through old Comics Journals from the library, which were filled with amazing, illuminating comics critiques. I could never really get into the poorly-designed website though, which felt downright hostile to the ways of the internet. But there's been an enormous redesign/retooling of the site by the newly deputized editors (formerly of Comics Comics) and the end result looks like super-exciting. This is going to become a daily destination for me, most definitely.


• Just realized I used "super-" three times in a row. THAT WAS TOTALLY UNINTENTIONAL, I ASSURE YOU.

Some people (mostly this Evan guy - thanks man!) have been sending me more pictures of presidents using computers to add to my collection. Let's go through them!

• Bush - A few people pointed me to this LIFE photo that I somehow missed. Thanks y'all, added


• Reagan - The Gipper looking befuddled at an IBM 701 back in the 50s. As amazing as this photo is, I can't include it because a.) He's not really using it b.) It predates his administration by too many years c.) The multiple warnings about unauthorized use give me the heebie-jeebies


• Carter - JC processing some words. This picture is funny but I wish it was bigger so it could better fit the pattern. And the lack of a Reagan picture means there'd be a gap between presidents. Nuts to that!


• Ford - Here he is, Skyping with some astronauts like it's no big deal. Futuristic as hell, but I'm kinda iffy on whether radio-telephone and a television should count as a computer.


• Nixon - Tricky Dick at a computer center. But he seems way more interested in looking at a piece of paper than the machinery in the foreground. What a loser!


• Johnson - Here he is with his BFF Robert MacNamera, looking at some electronic equipment. But is he really using it? I think not.

Please enjoy this collection of pictures of presidents using computers. I meant to post this back in like August but I sorta forgot about it. Dang! If I'd planned better I could've posted this on President's Day and reaped all kinds of crazy relevant holiday bonus points. Double dang!
